This shot shows the colour contrasts of the headland (green trees), beach sand, chocolate shale rock platform, and dominant brown alga Hormosira banksii (mustard colour top left) at Long Reef. The reddish colour in the chocolate shale is quite unusual, due to the iron in the sediments that make up the rock. It is also called Bald Hill claystone or “redbed” reefcarelongreef.org.au/geology/
